Founded in 1994 by Doug Wiele, Foothill takes obsolete and derelict infill properties across Northern California and Northern Nevada and rebuilds them around one conviction: commerce, culture and community belong in the same place.
Oddie started when The Generator, the region's makerspace, was about to lose its home. Foothill bought the dead Lowe's to keep it in Sparks, then kept going until the whole box was a campus. That is the firm's method: find the thing worth saving, build the place around it.
